From the President of Synod

The President of Synod recently posted this to his Facebook account.

When a public teacher on the roster of Synod can without consequence publicly advocate the ordination of women (even participate vested in the installation of an ELCA clergy person), homosexuality, the Errancy of the Bible, the historical critical method, open communion, communion with the reformed, evolution, and more, then the public confession of the synod is meaningless. I am saying that if my Synod does not change its inability to call such a person to repentance, and remove such a teacher where there is not repentance, then we are liars, and our confession is meaningless. I do not want to belong to such a synod, much less lead it.

Much of what Rev. Harrison refers to happened right here at the Gottesdienst blog some time back. May the Lord grant wisdom and strength to all charged with correcting what has gone awry.

  1. Gottesdienst - God says - in His Word God is very clear how He is to be worshipped. There is no room for debate with the Almighty One on such issues. Good on you, President Harrison! It is a duty of love, albeit unpopular in the smart modern world, to call anyone who wants to open this unscriptural and therefore ungodly door, to repentance. Jesus said, 'If you do not confess Me before your fellow man then neither will I confess you before My Father'. That's as serious as it gets! And yes, we are liars and cowards if we let such anti scriptural 'sentiments' take seed, grow and spread. We become guilty of leading others astray if we do not speak out. Another scripture comes to mind, it would be better if a millstone were tied around you and you were thrown into the deep.... Our God needs us more than ever to confess Him in all truth no matter how 'unpopular' or 'intolerant' or 'antiquated' that may seem. After all, do we care more about what God thinks or what sinful people think? God bless you, Rev Harrison, for your love of Him and for your faithfulness and courage to Him and His Word.
