Bring Church to Them

Just in time for the ordination season, Autom has a great deal on a travel Mass kit for shut-in calls. Chalice, paten, cruets, host box, crucifix, carrying case: $150. I have one similar to this - in fact, it appears the chalice was made by the same Polish outfit - and it ran me $270 six years ago. This is a great deal.

If your people can't come to church, bring church to them. The shut-ins will comment on the gold chalice. It inspires reverence in them and helps teach what the Sacrament is. If you are making due with a lesser kit for shut-in calls, time to trade up.

  1. I'm privileged to use my great-great grandfather's kit. I've had the box remade since the leather was falling apart. It's a beautiful testimony to the Communion of Saints for over 100 years of bringing the Church to the people.
This looks like a great kit. Pick one up!

  2. I second Fr. Curtis's comments. I have a very similar Mass Kit that was an ordination present from my mother-in-law. Without exception, my parishioners appreciate it.

It is a confession of the Real Presence and the gifts given in Holy Communion. It also confesses to the shut-in or the person in the hospital that they are part of the church.

Great advice. This is the perfect ordination gift, and these are made to last (though my case is wearing out, and needs to be replaced).

  3. I wish I had seen this last year when I was ordained. Don't get me wrong I love my Mass Kit, but this looks just as nice if not better, but for a fraction of the cost.

  4. I have a very similar one, though superior in every way because it was lovingly crafted for me by my wife as a gift for my ordination. The inner components she did purchase separately, but the case is handmade from wood, complete with locking latch, and each item has its own handmade, cushioned, velvet satchel. The crucifix (the same shown above with this kit) is affixed to the lid such that when the lid closes, the corpus actually rests in the mouth of the chalice. Beautiful imagery, and there would be no question ever again about marrying her (we were dating at the time :-) ).

  6. So would a pastor appreciate this as a gift for Christmas if they wanted a new one?

Honestly, I'd like to know. A few of us might purchase something like this for our pastor. What do you think?

  7. Mr. Flacius,

Yes! I'm sure your pastor would be delighted to receive this as a gift for any occasion.
