Some of the editors of Gottesdienst are getting rather old. Many even have gray hair and have paid $19.95 for those phones with really big buttons. Some even have grandchildren. Well, some of these were complaining that it was becoming difficult for them to read the white type on black background of this blog. So while changing things around for the elderly editors, we of course needed a new color scheme. And what else could we use but a classic, conservative royal blue?

Thanks be to God!
ReplyDeleteEmbrace the Blue. Next step a Blue Corporate Logo? I do like the soothing background.
ReplyDeleteNo. Just, no. This blue is way, way too harsh and unloving. My poor old Gottesgrandpa eyes were better off with the Gottesgothic black.
ReplyDeleteNot that we're known for being subtle, or anything remotely like that, but something more subtle than this shock to my system would be, oh, so much better. Back in black, please.
Fr. Hollywood, cue the appropriate guitar chords, if you would be so kind.
This is not your grandfather's Gottesdienst.
DeleteBut the date says May 3, not April 1 . . . (゜-゜)
ReplyDeleteAAHHHH!!!! MY EYES!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm old (60 on Saturday), have gray hair, a grandson, and wear trifocals, and I had no problem with the white on black. I liked it.
ReplyDeleteBe that as it may, I'm for change...GOOD change. With all due respect and fraternal love to the web designer (you, Heath?), this page looks...well, let's just say, not very good. I thought my browser was glitched up when I opened today's page. Anyway, I sure hope my GO visits don't have to endure this very long. Please?
While it is easier to read, it is not Gottesdienst quality quite yet.
ReplyDeleteLook, Braaten, I was just going to make the whole thing one block of blue.
ReplyDeleteRed and blue . . . this looks like a Cubs game. You know we should all go to a Cubs game sometime.
DeleteOn the other hand, black and blue just looks like a bruise.
But the new color logo just blends into the background! Can't we just use the Ol' Missouri Maroon?
DeleteI think that in view of the upcoming celebration of Memorial Day, it should be red, white, and blue.
ReplyDeleteAaaack!
ReplyDeleteThe Deaconesses have taken over Gottesdienst too!
Is nothing safe from the furies in blue?
The blue is a little, well, electric. I would have gone with an indigo over something darker but brighter than the Microsoft blue of my old XP machine, but, well, who am I go speak? I don't go here for the appearance. I will admit, however, that my very old eyes (58 years and counting) do appreciate the black on white contrast...
ReplyDeleteOh my! Quelle joie! Das ist aber schöne! Why it's, it's, it's, so . . . Marian!
ReplyDeleteBut, on the other hand, the "Gottesdienst Online" still needs to be brought in line with the Old English Gottesdienst font of the journal.
If we must have blue, it needs to be a little more Blessed Virgin Mary, and a lot less Kansas City Royals. I feel like my poor eyes are being scalded out of my head.
ReplyDeleteI prefer White on gray or less contrast. Black on white is too bright.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you guys always trying to change everything?
